one word HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
installed my stage 1 cam all to the spec, went over all settings, cam - tdc, spun the engine over several revolutions, all free and nice etc etc, valve clearances all set, primed the oil system (back feed them through the banjo bolt) and fired her up, check oil flow to cam at bleed bolt, fine. Wicked on the throttle so its revving nicely, every thing seems fine, all whizzing etc............... alot of temperature from the exhaust, noticeable heat haze, next thing electric fans kicking in, but more interesting the reverse light starts flashing after 10 secs or so ............. WTF ???
Kill the engine, electric fans running like crazy. looking over the loom etc to see if something rubbed or what ever, nope. Tank back on fire up, running fine, to a fast 1/3 - 1/2 throttle and let her hum, after a short while, 15 secs, starts poping and crackling abit in the exhaust, reverse lights starts flashing and fans running hard. Shut down. Same situation repeats twice more.
Ok serious rethink here.
Is this an electrcial gremlin ???? pop crackle and reverse light flashing or is she way lean now with the cam in ????????
Okay quad has an HMF slip on, proflow, no lid on airbox and dyno jet kit. Has been dyno'd to get carb mixtures sorted, tend to run it a fraction on the rich side, with stock cam normally runs perfect.
Any thoughts here team, fraction lean on the needles, lift one notch ?????
First thing will be to recheck valve clearances. Hard to see how exhaust would be tight after only about a minutes running but hey ?????
thanks
