Mine will spit and sputter as well but I can still run with it on. I'm not sure why it cuts out, must be a rev limiter. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

I don't know if you would call it a rev limiter. But there is an electronic switch on the top off your brake that controls it. I asked the dealer and he said it was a safety switch. So you remember to turn off the parking brake.

The '96 and up Wolverines have a switch that cuts the rev limit when the brake is on, since it was a problem on the '95 model.

Yes it can, tighten the adj. bolt until you can't move the atv, then lossen the bolt 1/8 turn. The reason you have to adj. the parking brake OFTEN is due to dust, dirt and mud getting on your caliper and eating the pad!!! I would think this is a normal condition for disc brakes.

I had a problem with the brake switch. It would act like a rev limiter even when the brake wasn't on. Heres the fix. Just take the switch out and groundf the wire to the frame and the safety switch is gone. A better parking brake is to carry around a velcro strap and wrap it around the front brake lever. That makes for a much stronger parking brake. I do this when hauling my Yamaha's
