opinions on chest protectors?
#1
Just wondering what everyone's opinion was on which company makes the best chest protector. I'm going to be doing some X-country racing this summer and need to invest in a chest protector and a hydration pack. Just wondering what chest protectors are more comfortable (over jersey vs. under) or if paying more is worth the buck. Thanks for the info.

from Milkweed,
I use a MSR Rage Chest Protector-XL and I love it. I tried a under the jersey chest protector and I really didn't like it. Awhile back I got one and I sure am glad I did. I was riding a trail last Saturday and a tree branch tagged me square in the chest. Fortunately just soar and no broken ribs. Thank god for chest protectors!!!

I like teh rockstar made by fox, but I really like the one made by evs (the evolution 2) it has the plastic front piece like the conventional protectors but is still under the shirt, Checkem out...http://rockymountainatv.com/product_...VO_2_CHEST.JPG

My Fox roost deflector is awesome. Very comfortable with gold shoulder pieces, yellow chest piece. Quality and comfort. I feel like some kind of knight ready to do battle when I'm wearing it. Blows people away, it just looks as fantastic as it feels....

Basicly and Large sized protector with long straps that will not limit movement. I really dont like underjersey or ones with big plastic things. I have had my MSR rage foraobut 3 years now and love it. It is not a lot of money but it does its job.

using the Acerbis zoom 2..fits well althought it is bulkier than the Fox roost guards I took a spill the other day bruising my ribs, causing cartalidge damage, and bruising my inards enough to have me couging blood...had it not been for the chest protector I would have been in a world of Shi$. I still can't take a full breath, but I have both lungs stil operating...THANKS ACERBIS

Say Pudljumpr after last weekend do you think I should get a chest protector. Since I landed that 40 ft jump with the Xpress. Plus I think a sport quad is needed for my riding style. Since the utility suspension all bottomed out and rebounded the entire machine of the ground and hit me hard in the chest it definately knocked the wind out of me. I'm looking to get a V-Force next year.
