just got off the phone with a sales rep... says he's looking to open a dealership in my Area....

no joke.... I wish I had $100,000 laying around.... I'd rent a shop and go for it

also, there are no Bombardier or Cannondale dealers around here either.... if I could get them on board....WHEW!!!

but, it takes money to make money, and I have none

I probably would. I have told the wife if the local motorcycle shop ever comes up for sale that I might buy it. They are yamaha, suzuki, kawasaki, I think that is it. Anyway, pretty good people to deal with.

I live in a small area, and I am sure they dont make a fortune off of it. But I do enjoy the hobby. My problem would be not wanting to take every new bike for a good dune ride before selling.

My brother knew a guy who loved to fly so he opened a flight school in Fla. Taught people to fly and rented planes. He now lives in No.Carolina and does'nt want to see another plane as long as he lives.
But I would do it. I don't think a 100 grand would be enough to get a dealership though.

To me that seems like a low ball figure. Does that include the franchise fee? Who is fronting the money you or Yamaha?

I would think you would have to have free assets/net worth in the neighborhood of $750,000 and upwards to 1.5 million for them just to let you in the door.

I looked into it where I live. This is directly from my dealer application. The franchise fee is only either $15,000 or $25,000. $250,000-$500,000 or possibly more in credit. $25,000-$35,000 for parts, tools, accessories. Operating capital of atleast $35,000-$70,000+. You need atleast 7000sq ft of approved space. Net worth of $750,000. SBA wont grant a loan on a start up business. For the cash outlay, your "Return On Investment" suck in this industry. Your better off investing in Commercial Properrty.
