I have a warn 2000 winch on my 98 wolverine. I do a lot of riding in water (creeks). One day the winch would not work. So I took it apart and found that the seals where gone corrsine I guess. I put it back together useing blue atv gasket sealer then the winch worked fine for a few trips but the winch took on water again. I found a dealer in my area but they do not sale replacement part just a new winch. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas on a good way to fix the water problem winch

wov98 if you look at Warn's web site (Warn.com) you should be able to find a nearby dealer you has the parts you need. Or better yet call Warn's customer service at 1-800-543-9276 and explain your problem. I am sure that they will help you out. They have gone the extra mile for me. Hope this helps.

WARN winches do not have seals. They are not advertized as water proof or even resistant. I have had my Warn 2000 (Now upgraded to 2500 on the new Y2Kodiak) since 1994. I have had it under water Many times with out a failure. after almost 6 years of such abuse I decided to take it apart and clean it out before upgrading it to the 2500 for the Kodiak.
What I found was the grease was getting hard. I looked at the motor end and seen no evidence of problems but could see where water did settle and dry. You may need a drain hole.
Anyway I re-lubed mine with Black Moly. A real tacky grease that will not mix with water.

Call or go to this webb site. They are real good people with very good prices. Ask for Roger.
