Default Another piston ??????

I'm going to put in a hotcam 1 and I have to put in a new piston, and I was set on the JE 11:1. Now is the piston worth it. Will I gain much power, or lose a bunch of reliability. My setup will be stock exhaust and of course hotcam and proflow filter and no lid.

Or should I put the piston, cam and filter in and run mixed gas to help the rod from going.??????????

Thanks

need to update the crappy exhaust while you are at it...putting filter piston cam and race gas
wont give you the potential power it has till you put a FULL system exhaust

Clutch- Apparently you have read my other posts on the rod situation and believe like others that detonation caused my rod to twist but, it didn't!!!! I know for a fact!!! I do agree with yamaha4life on the exhaust though!!! As for the mods you plan on doing they are mild as are mine compared to what some of these guys on this forum are running on stock rods!!!!!! So..................... Go for it!!!!!!!!

Thanks Xtreme, yes I totally agree about the exhaust. But I cant afford it right now. I have the motor apart for the tranny so I'm going to put the piston, cam, and filter and jets now, while I have it apart. Then in a while put the exhaust on. Your post just concerned me about the rod. I was just making sure thats the best thing to do. Thanks again.

Extreme, do you feel that your rod was sort of a freak accident? I'm going for the same setup as we speak and I'm starting to get worried! I've seen more elaborate setups than ours and I have read no complaints about the rod letting go. Where did yours seperate? When I have it apart I will do a dye penetrate test on the exposed or as much of the rod as I can.

Delta- The answer to your question is without a doubt YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is unheard of before mine! The rod twisted enough to totally mess up the head and piston. Notice I said TWISTED!!!
