I have a 96 banshee and Have recently put on k&n clamp on filters with outerwears and rejeted the carbs from 240 to 290. I also have the head shaved 40 thousands and have fmf pipes and silencers. The problem is that when the machine gets to the verry top end of the RPM's the Motor starts sputtering poping. I thought this was a sign of a lean condition so I removed the K&N filters and put my stock air box and filter back on. I left the 290 jets in to be sure that it was plenty rich but the poping and sputtering still continued. The plugs are now verry dark grey to black. Any info would be verry helpfull.Sorry about the spelling I am in a hurry.

i had a similar situation and mine was a result of a fuel deficiency. a piece of dirt had stuck inside the main jet and wasn't allowing full throttle fuel flow. you may want to check out the carb passages/fuel line/filter, etc.

Not to sure but it almost sounds like a rev limiter. Never heard any one hitting the rev limiter on a banshee though. also check your carb settings. it may be jetted correctly but the needle could be in the wrong spot or your float level not right.

i'm pretty sure the banshee does not have a rev limiter other than it's stock pipe configuration....

T.O.R.S THROTTLE OVER RIDE SYSTEM... that is the banshee rev limiter, you can disconnect the plug and tape it off. it has three wires going into the connector, black, yellow/black and black/white. I would lose it before your next ride

I have already gotten rid of the TORS along time ago so thats not the problem. I was wondering if there could be maby a gasket leaking on the bottem end or maby a base gasket leaking causing this?

the TORS keeps the bike from reving out if it rolls over. I have had problems with that before, when the switch messes up it usualy cuts the bike out if you touch the throttle.
Maybe it is lean, if it goes away after it warms up. A cold motor is loose when the metal heats up the clearances tightnin up causing it to draw more fuel.

Hey twin_350 what kind of gas are you running? It may be the gas you are running is not enough octane. I run VP 116 in mine and never had any problems.

I am running 92 pump gas with the 104 off road octane boost I dont know if this could be the problem because I only have 150lbs of compression. This has really got me and about everyone around here where I live stumped. I am not sure if the 104 octane boost is a verry good choice to be running.
