Legal Ditch Riding?
#2
I ride on the side of highways alot and had problems with this one game warden once but he couldn't do anything. We would always wait untill he got outta his truck, walked across the road, pulled out his badge and said, " i'm officer so and so...." blah blah blah, then we take off leaving him in our dust. Weither that was legal or not I'm not 100% sure, but we did it anyways. Umm.. not sure if I was any help. Have fun though.

In minnesota it is legal to ride the ditches if you have drivers license. Only on state highways and county roads. so if you live in northern Iowa drive up to minnesota and I am surer the ditch down in flat country of southern minnesota have alot of ditches with trails in them. Good riding to all.

A few months ago the DNR came to a ATV meeting and said it was legal as of July 2002. You need a driver license and registration. No flag required and you can't ride the ditches of a four lane highway. About a month ago a bunch of guys got tickets and were told that the law was being changed again. Now they say it needs to be a marked snowmobile trail and you can ride it when there isn't any snow. Your best bet is to call the DNR and get a copy of the new law. Then carry it with you in case you get stopped. If you stop..
