Default Blaster front sproket retainer plate problems

I was in the middle of replacing both of my sprokets and chain, when I noticed that the front sproket was loose, it was the factory original and both bolt were tight, but you could grab the sproket and wiggle it all around. So before I put the new sproket it on I replaced the retainer plate, because the original one had shown signs of wear, so I thought that was the problem. I put the new one on and you can still wiggle it, but not as much as before. Does anyone know if there is supposed to be play in the front sproket or is it supposed to be tight and not move at all? I would think that it should be tight.

All front sprockets that use that plate wiggle. That is why I hate them. The setup does work though and is easier to change the sprocket than on a banshee that uses a large nut.
