No. Why don't you go with a larger rear instead? A 12 tooth front is much harder on your chain and I would'nt use a cheap front sprocket especially a 12 tooth, but you can use a cheap rear. A good front sprocket is 18 to 20 bucks a cheap rear is 25 to 30 bucks so you don't save much money. And you can go as high as 43 tooth rear with stock chain, that's what I have.

I assume you already have the new front sprocket. I hope you went with a Renthal (SWEET) or a sidewinder (indestructible). You will not have to lengthen the chain. If anything you will have to shorten it. You will probably be able to get away with screwing in the chain adjusters some, though. That's all I had to do when I put on my 12T Renthal. Good Luck!

I put 14/40 on mine a couple of weeks ago. Took a little while to get used to but definitely an improvement. I tried to install a 12 tooth front last weekend to see which i would like better and the chain was a link too long, so i stayed at 14/40. I really dont think i would like the 12 tooth since it was hard enough keeping the frontend down with stock gearing. Oh, and my chain was stock length for the 14/40 so youll have to cut it.
