I wish!

Shift fork 1 missed the first shipment of parts and is now in brown truck land somewhere between neither here nor there LOL

Well that sucks.

Gary,

Hmm, my bike is way faster than it was when I had the 01 gears. Not just because of the Piston and cam. Starting in 2nd was'nt as easy as it is now. Used to bogg a little to much. Of course I use 22" tires so that would be different with 20". 1st-3rd are a little different the rest are the same. The difference isn't enough to convince me one is faster than the other. If your talking tenths of a second at the strip then I guess for a person who does that sort of thing it might be worth it to stay 01. Not me.

After further examination of this invoice of mine, all the parts are '01 parts. Or should I say, the needed '02 parts are '01. The seller lied to me. Suddenly, I don't feel so good.....

Thats right, you bouight this quad from someone who said they had the tranny upgraded. Right? $3500 or somthing like that? It was still a good price. When you ride it is there a noticable drop in RPM's from shifting from 1st to 2nd? if so it is a 01 tranny. Of course if the part #'s correspond to 01 numbers then of course you already know. You can go to Albaaction.com and check the part # for the tranny. But then you've probably already done this. . Seems you have 2 choices. Take it back. Or ride it and do what the rest have done, fix it when it breaks.

THose heavy 22" tall tires sure make a difference. I added a set of 22" Shredders (came from 20" Bandits) in the rear and have went from 14/40 too 13/43 just too get back what I lost in a drag. Thats a huge change.....ground clearance is nice though.

Your talking dirt, I'm talking sand. Big difference. My 22" haulers weigh half what my 22" XCTs weigh if that. I don't drag race on the dirt, at least not like I do in the sand. Going from 20" to 22" will require gearing changes to accomplish what you want for sure.

Those haulers weight less than 10lbs a piece? Thats pretty light.
The difference is'nt drastic between 01 and 02 ratios in a drag....generally, the 01 ratios make the engine work harder, utilizing the broad torque curve of the Raptor.
With taller gearing on my once stock (only piped) Raptor, I was quicker in a drag. SO, lower gearing does'nt necessarily mean quicker acceleration...it's all in set-up and torque curve (level and range).
Specifically, many details can change my generalization such as gearing, rider ability / skill, terrain, etc. Later.

mrbones, i saw where u listed the part numbers for the 02 gears in another post, i was pertty sure they were 01 numbers because the last four digits tell all, i didn't wanna bust your bubble because the work was already being done. I would go and raise hell with them.

I haven't weighed the tires but they are light as heck. They are on .125 wheels also. They can't be anymore than 10lbs each IMO.

You are making around 50+ HP so the 22" paddles do you good with the gearing. But what about others like me that are only in the 40+ HP ( hope to be in 50+ some day). I'm going to play with different gearing set ups, but the tire size is hole new issue. I want to be able to pull the sand hills in 3rd gaining speed. I can't do that with stock gearing and 20" paddles. So if I go to 12/42 and 22" paddles that is almost stock agian. Won't I be back in the same boat?
