Default 727 or 686?

My first question is do you have to do any case mods for a 727? I know that a 686 is a simple bore and hone, but does the 727 have a sleeve? I want some thing to run on the stock carbs and the stage II cam that I have now. The head is going to be ported (not done yet), and what ever set up that I use I want to go with the most compression that I can. I only have a stock bore on 10.75:1 JE. I have been draging in the dunes and that will be 90% of what this bike does. Any suggestions how to make my raptor performance better. I need to fend off those pesky banshees!!! Thanks BigBubba, I think I might just do that everthing that comes out of that shop sounds to be really good. Not sure if they do anything bigger than a 686.

I donno, they might do a 727 for ya. That 686 is really pushin the power though so you prolly wont need a bigger bore but the bigger bore just slows revs and rpms.

Thats a good point, and sand draggin I think I'll need the rpm. Are you going to have your 686 running soon? Are you using the stock carbs? What jetting does craycraft say to use? Did you send the whole motor or just head and cylinder?

I would want any engine that can get the RPM's up personally. Thats why i went with the 686 and not something like the Powroll 770. My 686 should be back soon, when its all back together i'll definately post with my thoughts on it. I will be useing the stock carbs. Paying 800 dollars for some new carbs that will only bring another 1.5 to 2 HP isn't on the top of my list. As far as jetting, mikuni jets/neddles. I'll start out at probably 185/190 4clip, 27.5 pilots. I think that should be pretty close to perfect. I sent the head, the cylinder, the top of the head, and the intake boots off to them. G'luck

Who is the best engine builder, craycraft, powroll, trinity, ct racing, lrd, sparks, FST, or robertson. Who has a robertson and how did it do at FSW?

I would not build a 727. I have yet to see one that was worth the $$ spent to build it. Craycraft is building one monster 727 right now for a forum member that will run a hole in the wind or they will redo it. It has everything in it but it is costing BIG dollars. I am happy with my 67hp little 686. I ordered a cdi box and carbs. You can build a 686 for under 2000 dollars that will take out the corporate 727's.
