Toyhauler & Sierra 1500
I'm looking for advice from those of you who might have the configuration I want to go to. I want to upgrade from a large tent trailer (3600#s) to a toyhauler so I can use one vehicle to pull trailer and quads (2 large, 1 small). I have a 2000 GMC 1500 2Wheel Drive (posi, 5.3, 3.78) that the manual says I can pull 8200#s. I'm interested in the Weekend Warrior FB2200. Initially, adding the numbers up it looks like I will be ok. I know a bigger truck is better, but not planning to go that route and I'm not very interested in the trailer lite models that are out there that I have seen. I believe the FB2200 gross dry weight is around 5800#s. I know I see a few 1/2 ton pickups pulling 22' to 26' ToyHaulers out at the dunes and such. I'm interested in your real world experience if you or someone you know has this kind of setup? Thanks in advance!

AZ4fun, the Toy houlers can get heavy fast. The dry weight is the trailer without any accessories, water, fuel etc not to mention the quads in it.
I'm pulling a 21' travel trailer with a F150 4x4 5.4l 3.73 and franky I wouldn't want to pull much more. It's not so much the weight as it is the wind drag at highway speeds. My trailer weighs almost 3000 dry with no options and probably about 4500 loaded plus another 500 for the quad and gas in the bed of the truck. I was in the same dilema and decided to skip the toyhouler because I didn't feel my truck would pull it very well. I'm glad I made the decision I did becasue I'm not exactly thrilled with the way the current set-up pulls - it's OK but 8 mpg and headwinds and hills are tough.
If you can, ask the dealer to let you pull the trailer (preferably with your quads in it) and see how it does on the highway and up some hills.
I think you can pull it but how much do you want the truck to struggle to do it is the question.

I have a 21' Ragen, 4700 lbs. dry. I was pulling it with a 99 Ford Expedition EB 4X4. It pulled it fine, once you get gas and water in there it gets pretty heavy. It is the light model designed for half tons. I just bought an F350 and now I have to keep looking back to make sure it's there.
I may sell it so if your interested let me know. I'm looking to get a 31' 5th wheel.
BTW it's only been used about 7 times and I've gotten 2 DS's in it, or 1 DS 1 400 EX and 1 LT80.
