Default Sprockets?

On my raptor I am thinking about changing sprockets. The only reason is for the fact that i would like to have a little more on the low end. Will this screw up my top end very much, or anything else? Also what would be a good sprocket size combo for slightly more low end power. thanks

Drop one tooth in the front, this will give you that grunt you want as well as making your bike pull harder on the top end. The stock raptor doesn't have the power to pull its stock gearing, so replace the front with a 12tooth.

Geez, I went up a tooth on the front sprocket to 14/40 and love it. I couldnt imagine actually going down a tooth on the front. Its all I can do to keep the front end down in the first three gears. I feel like the raptor has more than enough power to handle stock gearing. I trail ride only, which it does make it a little quick in the lower gears, but the torque this thing has is enough to lug around in almost any gear.

There no way you can lug in the high gears ,i mean 3rd ok,but 4th and 5th ,you must be feathering the heck out of your clutch...or keeping your momentum up ,or engine work.jmo

And i ride sand and putting the 12tooth i can pull third up the hills ,and before in the high rpm in second..jmo

i do admit i max out quick because i like to ride fast ,but the change is better...

I agree with putting the 12 on the front. When my bike was stock it made all the difference in the world. You do lose some on the top end, but the gain was awsome. Once I went with exhaust and jets then I went back to the 13 tooth. Besides its not like you are going to be hitting 60-70 on many of the trails we ride on anyway... you want all the power down low and ready at the twitch of a thumb!!

Ow yea and one more thing about the 12 on the front it makes reverese much more "user friendly" so to speak

i might try the 12, but i would have to cut my chain. yeah i meant lugging in 1st or 2nd, but when trailriding, im almost always in 2nd. I feel like the 12/40 gearing, along with the pipe, makes it so much faster over stock

Once I put the pipe on mine I had to go up to the 13 again, and I think it could carry the 14 very easy now. The pipe just opens it up and lets it breath and act like the machine it should be

well take it to the dunes and that 13 or 14 wont carry you up anything ,only if you are in second , but you will get beat buy the raptor with the same mods and a 12tooth front!!!
