Default Thinking of getting new tire & rims

I am in need of some new tires and rims. I have a friend that has a huge mx track on his proporty. These tire are only going to be used here. There are different sizes what would be a good size for my raptor? I looking at the new holeshot mxr rear and mx for the front.
Rear sizes to chose from 18x10-8 or 18x10-9 what is the difference? Front sizes to choose from 19x6-10 or 20x6-10 what is the difference?

I'm kinda in the same situation. I need to put new tires on the back of the Raptor. I want the best tire for MX but I don't know whether to go with 20" or 18" tires.
Can anyone tell me how an 18" tire will affect my performance?

In a nut shell, Diameter of the tire, ie 18", will change the gearing
The rims size, ie 9", will change the ride quality

Its all about the amount of side wall you have. The more side wall the smoother its going to ride but the more it will roll over in the corners.

So if its a ruff track that isn't real tight, try a 20x whatever x 8
if its a smooth track that is tight try a 18x whatever x10

This is where the 9" rims are said to be good, its more of an all around rim size.

I hope that made sense.

I argee with ward.. I am currently running 20x11x9 shredders in the rear and love them, I also had a set or razors in 20x11x10 and the ride was a little rough compared to the 9 inch rim. I also perfer 20" tires to 18" but I ride in the woods alot too, but it still takes turns great with the durablue axle. If the track is very smooth and you have your stock axle, I would go with 18x10x9s, otherwise, I like 20" tires, JMO though so whatever you think would work for you. Good luck!

I'm finding out that the Razor mx works better than the Holeshot on the four strokes.
I have a lot of race friends that run either Razors for mx or Turfs for the back.
You wouldn't want to run the Turfs in the woods though. Most of the pros run Turfs on the back b ecause they hook up and slide so well.
They only come in a 18 though which works well for the Rappy because it lowers the quad a little also.
If you run 18s on the back you will surely want a mx tire on the front.
This is a mx only set up. It will not work well in the trails.

Ok I have made up my mind I am going to get a set for both trail and mx 20X9 maxxis ravers for the rear on trail and 18X10 maxxis mx for rear for MX. So with this into consideration what is a good front tire size? And what about rims douglas or itp, .190, beadlock, there is so much to choose from?
thanks jessie james
