Ideal replacement tire for Wolverine?
#1
Hey guys, what have you been replacing your stock 23" tires with on your Wolverine's? Mine are getting close, and I like the Goodyear Mudrunners because I hear they run good on dirt/gravel as well as good in mud too. Only thing is the smallest they have is 25x8x12 for the front and 25x10x12 for the rear. Will this slow me down? My quad has a Dynojet kit, Pro-Flo, and FMF exhaust...and i love how fast it is now....any suggestions?

It certainly will slow you down. You might gain more top speed but say goodby to your torque. Your Wolverine can turn those tires but slowly and without much throttle response. I put blackwaters on mine 25x8x10 on front and 25x10x12 on the rear. I had them mounter on douglas .190 aluminum rims to save weight. I have the dynojet kit, K@N and supertrapp on mine. I forget the brand but I think they make the 489A/T tires in the stock sizes. Next time I need tires, I'm going with those. Good Luck!

If you love that bottom end pep that you have with the 23 then I would stick with that. I have the 25 and I would only recommend them if you want more ground clearance and want to play in the mud a little more often. You won't be alone if you go to a 25. I have seen a lot of Wolv owners on the Forum running 25 and are fairly satisfied, but the ground clearance and mud playing is generally why you would go this route. Also keep in mind that that lost bottom end will equal a little more on the top end. With the pep ups you have on your Wolv you should be able to turn those tires fairly well.

I have been doing some "future" searching for new replacements. My tires are pretty good right now but I was looking into some new ones. I found some pretty appealing ones at ITP's home page. I think they were called Trail Wolf's or something? They are basically the same size as stock but a little more aggressive. I thought they looked pretty good for trail riding. Like I said with these you wont lose your pep on the bottom either. Might wanna check around some.
