Default When your carbs came off your Rap???

Mine popped the other day,,,,popped em back in to get back, re-mounted them, torqued them down tight (tighter than they were), checked for leaks (no leaks).

Question:
Am I done with this problem,,,,,,,,or will it haunt me. Should I get some better boots now or just keep an eye on it?

Thanks
Mark

Do you keep your idle down pretty low?If so you may want to keep your idle turn up a little more.

After some searching....it seems I need to get some different clamps.

I did take the spacers out. You guys are right,,,,those are some sorry clamps.

I have never noticed any backfiring, and I let the bike warm up for at least 5-10 minutes everytime.

Nope it only happens once.

The problem is probably either you idel is set too low or your mixture screws are off a little.

Don't tighten the clamps too much, it just makes it worse.

edit, man I type slow when I am eating at the same time

Don't over tighten them, the boots will rip and those boot aren't cheap.

I don't think the spacers should be removed. You could file the spacers down slightly and reinstall.

BING-i had problems with my carb boots coming off on my raptor and fixed it for good by ordering a set of boots from (WWW.UPPRACING.COM).the boots from upp are way superior to the stock one as they are made of polyurethane which is much stronger than the soft cheap set up that yamaha uses.the cost of these boots is 99.95and the part number is 1116 .they are fairly expensive but just think what would happen if your boots came off during a dry summer day in the sand with the wind blowing and sending sand into your motor ,all it would take is a few grains of sand and you could be looking at much more than what these boots cost.this so far seems to be a very good product that was easy to install so i would recommend you try them, just my opinion.

If your idle is too low it will "burp" the carbs off. Also it can damage your starter. The shop said it will kick the starter back and kill it.

duneittilludie, can you tell me more about these boots, please? Are they solid poly, or do they still have the metal plate next to the head? Are the the exact same shape as stock?

Thanks for any of those you can answer!
