Going from the 3rd groove from the top too the 4th on the needle would be richer.

Dyno-jet done all their testing with the lid on. The lid off creates mid range turbulence, so the needle change setting fixes this. Just try it.....the machine will respond better.

03Raptor,
I think it is just the idiot light which has not come on. I am not sure why the Raptor has two separate heat sensors though. One it at the bottom of the radiator and the other is at the top where the thermostat is located.

Like RR1 said a quad to swap parts off of would be nice if you need to start checking for electrical problems.

Gary,
Still don't know. I am hoping to go into the carbs tonight only because I don't know anyone with a Raptor that I can switch coil and/or CDI units. I think I am going to order a coil tomorrow just in case. I will definitely post the end solution. It is starting to look more like a 686 and 2002 gearset all the time though.

Actually, I ended staying at work late every night this week. Today was a riding today (thank goodness I have a 400ex as a spare - I run the crap out of that thing everytime and it never fails.). I plan to look at the Raptor some tomorrow. I did order a new coil. Also made sure that it was not a clogged gas vent tube.

Did you find out what was wrong. My raptor has similar symptoms but the midrange bog is constant no matter how long the bike has been ridden. I have experimented with the jetting until I am sick of it. I may try a larger pilot jet for the hell of it, but then I am gonna start looking at the electical system.
