Boost bottle don't work a damn..... Don't even bother to get one, save your money.
You gotta do the plug check in order get the jetting spot on. It will take time and in the long run you will be happy.

Whoa, step back a minute. You are at sea level and running a 280 with carb mounts and pipe?

Too lean, you should probably be at about a 320. I would get some 320, 310 and 300 mains, start with the largest and work your way down. better to be rich then lean. Might even go up another.

I am at 6400 ft, with carb mounts, and a t5 pipe and a few other mods that should not effect jetting I currently have a 290 in it. In warmer weather I will run a 280.

I bet a 320 main would be pretty close for you. On the airscrews, 2fun is correct, a good setting for the airscrews is 1.5 turns out. Then you can fine tune from there. If you go over about 2-2.5 turns out, you should drop the pilot one size. And if you go under 1-1.5 turns in then go up on the pilot. If you can adjust to a nice off throttle response with your pilots, you will probably be ok.

I would guess your pilot should be close, or you might need to go to 30's. I still have my stock pilots in, but need to bump them up to 27.5's.

I would not run it much with the current main jet. That is just my opinion, hope it helps you out.

Later

Good info Bat.

Like I said, do a plug check.

Do one at 1/2 throttle too see if the needle is in the correct position, and do one at full throttle to see how you are doing as far as the main jet is concerned.

You nust do these plug checks the correct way, and you MUST use fresh white plugs, or your readings will not be correct!

good info also,

If I were him, I would jump at least 4 main jet sizes up and then do some plug checks. He seems real lean to me at that elevation.

Yep sound like he running a little too lean. I think I am around 310 or so, can't remember since it been so long ago.... even though it run good. can't complain.
Once you get it dail of jetting. you will pretty much spot on, once awhile it wouldn't hurt to do plug check time to time.

do what you want, it is your machine. I would change the mains to 320 and go from there. 1.5 on the airscrews is about right. I dont know what my needle is on for sure. I think 3rd clip would be right in the middle, I would probably to do 4 clip from the top. That would richen up the midrange.

It is always best to start rich and go from there.

i have the dyno needle which is taller than stock and its in the #4 clip trom top and the problem that i have right now is when i hit the full throutel it takes a long time to open the pretior but when it open its a real monster ... i think the problem that i have is eather the air screw or the needle because the bog is in the midrange and the start .

Plug check, plug check, plug check, plug check, plug check...........................................

Did I forget to mention plug check?

Do the recommended changes, and the do a plug check.

This is the best way to see if you are rich or lean!
