Raptor Mods
#1
I have a 02 raptor that is stock, I would like to do some mods to make it a better hill climber on the dunes. Need to know the best exhaust and proper size jet at sea level. I have already installed a K&N filter, I was also told to go with a smaller front sproket, will this help much? will I loose much top end? I was looking at the white bro's E-series what are some opinons on that exhaust.
Any help would be appreciated.

Most all exhaust systems will yield the same results give or take one or two Hp. You just need to pick the sound and material finish you like. As far as jets go you should purchase a jet kit and follow the direction to a T. Dropping the front sprocket down a tooth will help you get up the dunes a lot better. You will sacrafice top end a bit....but how often are you topped out in the dunes anyway.
Good luck

Thanks for the info Shane, I am topped out quite a bit because the aera I mostly ride (sand lake OR) has alot of stright streches, fith gear seams way high like I loose speed mabey do to the paddles, so I wonder if I would notice much differnce if I goto a smaller front sproket.

No problem!
Definetly get some more input from the board before you make any purchases...lots of experience around here.
It will help some, you will still bog down a bit....you will just get to fifth gear faster. The only cure for what you want is more horse power and maybe mess with your tire pressure!
Once you do your pipe and jet kit you will be quite a bit happier.
I don't personaly know any Raptor owners with the WB pipe. I know about thirteen 400EX riders that really like that pipe....it sounds nice and throaty.

Hey 660Pilot,
I have the E-series headpipe and silencer. I like it a lot. There was a noticable difference from stock. Here is a pipe shootout done by Dirtwheels magazine. It gives you some good info.
Raptor Pipe Shootout
One bad thing about the E-series or any baffle type exhaust is your rear grab bar will become black for the exhaust. You can wipe off the black soot but it leaves your bar permanantly discolored. I ended up buying an add-on sheild from White Brothers that blocks the exhaust from hitting the grab bar. It works well.
Good Luck!

12/42 sprockets front and back, pipe, jets, filter and your 5th gear will be a lot more useable in the dunes, your hill climbing will be much much improved in the dunes and you will be a much happier Raptor owner.
