Default Connecting rod failure

Thanks Ryan,

Re sleeving is what I'll do for that part of the problem. Where is LRD anyway? If it's not in So Cal I'm sure I can find someone around here to get that done. Trinity is only 40 minutes away. When my valve was damaged due to the bad Hotcams, they fixed it cheap and quick, just a few days. I think I can trust them to do a resleeve, maybe. Plus I think I'll get it bored to 102mm, I mean, I have to buy another freakin piston anyway.

LRD is in Oragen...........I also had a new sleeve put in & then bored to 102mm. The new sleeve is supposedly made out of a longer lasting material. If you can find somebody you trust around there ........Go for it!! If not I can give you the # to LRD.

Thanks,

I'll do some research and see what builders have to say around here. I need to save some pennys for sure to be able to get this thing running again.

Is the piece of rod end the same piece in the two pics, One on the case and the other up in the piston?
The nick I don'nt think is no big deal.

No, they are the 2 different halves. One on the case was down inside, the other is still somewhat stuck under the wrist pin.

Is it the Raptor rod that is weak or is it the crank that is twisting cause stress on the rod. Has anyone had their crank welded and then have their stock rod break?

wshrdskin, sorry to hear and see your rod broblem. Has craycraft or any of the others ever recommend upgrading the rod with there kits? Has anyone had this problem with the kits they had done? Air crack checker, where should I begin. You know I just can't right now with all this broken rod and chipped crank stuff goin on.

Are longer rods in conjunction with the appropriate pistons available yet?
