What causes the high pitched whine that I hear in my Kodiak and in the Polaris' my buddies ride ?

 

The Belt housing needs to be kept cool. There is an impeller on one of the pullys to move the air. On the Kodiak the intake vent is under the front rack and the air exits in the rear under the rack.
You are hearing either the air whistling by the vents or the fan.
