They are about even through the gears.. but out on top I think the DS has the edge

 

Every article I have seen in many magazines claim the ds is faster. That could be just because its harder to keep the Raptor's nose down. This question will be debated for along time.

 

I am going to buy either one tommorrow and I want to be sure that I get the best bang for my buck! The Raptor I am looking at costs about $6500. The DS I was looking at costs about $6000. I have heard that the DS has a serious weight problem, but the Raptor is bad about popping up or tipping over.

 

the Raptor is noticably more "twitchy" than the DS and is a bit more tippy, but if you buy either one, you will be making a good choice

 

Thanx. How about the 400ex? Is it in the same weight class as the Raptor and the DS650? I haven't heard much good news about the Honda quad! My cousin owned a 250R back in the late 80's and that was one bad **** machine. Getting really excited about purchasing my quad tommorrow. Just wished this damn rain would go away down here in Georgia!

 

I have an '01 raptor and i have never tipped it or rolled it. I race my buddies all the time. I have also ridden my buddies Z 400. The Z 400 pops up more than the raptor, but it is a great bike. You should either go for the raptor or the Z400. Let everyone know what you decide.

 

If you are interested in a machine like the 400EX, I would look into a suzuki Z400. I hear a lot of good about them and they are supposed to be faster than a 400EX.. The 400EX is a little lighter than the Raptor, but the DS could eat the little thing..

 

a lot of it depends on how big you are. the ds is built for bigger guys (6' + and 200lbs +). if your under that then either will make you happy. over that and you'll feel crowded on the rappy.

also from what i've been observing on the forums, the ds may handle mods better. seems that there are quite a few posts relating to modded rappies being broke down. thats just my perception for what its worth.
