Default Duals for an 02 Raptor

OK, this is a question kinda outta curiousity. I have an 02 Raptor and while taking a break from riding I was looking at my bike. I'm wondering if there is a way to run a dual exhaust on the bike. The Banshee incorporates it so why not the Raptor? The pipes would have to run on the right side due to oil lines on the left, so maybe go to a 1/16th inch smaller pipe and loop one under the tail. Then move the coolant resievoir on the left just under the 660R decal. I dont know if it'd work but its a thought. Let me know what you think, I might try it later this year. If I do I'll post pics and any problems I had.

The banshee incorporates the dual exhaust because its a twin cylinder.
What do you hope to gain from a dual raptor exhaust added weight ???

My advise to you would be dont screw up your machine by doing this hack job. Save yourself some time, money and frustration and buy a mod that has a benifit.

So why do people change their trucks to dual exhausts? Stock chevys come with a 2-into-1 exhaust. I have seen many that have gone to true duals all the way back. It does reduce back pressure and increase peak HP doesn't it? It's just something for thought. I really don't have any idea how much less flow resistance a dual system would have on a Raptor. Do dual drag pipes increase HP much over a good aftermarket system?

There is a company that makes a dual set up for the raptor. The pipes both come back to the same side though. I think the name of the company was C&D Racing? Thay have an ad in dirtwheels now and again. I called them back when i had my Raptor and the way it sounds is it pretty much has the same output as a single but is quieter by a few decibals.

airraptor, I agree with the speed of the exhaust via smaller dia. pipes. Being a car guy I understand the importance of the forced flow. As with small engines Im not too good. But if you were to run two seperate large pipes into two seperate small pipes then would'nt you accomplish this effect while adding some power. Also, is there a cam that might help accomplish this.

the important thing to consider is why the banshee runs dual exhaust. it has 2 cylinders. when you have one header, it makes no sense or performance gain by adding another exhause pipe. all of these chevy cavaliers with dual exhausts are somewhat comical to me. i dont understand what you can gain by adding another pipe when you only have one outlet. yes, v8 and v6 vehicles run duals, but that is because they have a "v" engine orientation, and therefore dual headers. same with the banshee, as far as having dual outlets for exhaust. skip the pain and cost of the dual system and buy a quality pipe and header for you raptor, it will be much more reliable, and probably a lot cheaper. not to mention easier.

maddog56, the raptor does have two exhaust headers it has three intake valves and two exhaust valves i believe. i myself liked the drag system that was posted on here awhile ago.

i know about the valve setup, the 3 intake/ 2exhaust is right. but does that mean it has 2 HEADERS? like, you know, pipes coming out of the engine. Im not sure, asking?
