Has anyone tried yamaha's speedo kit for the 2000 kodiak? How much are they? Where can I get one? Do they look and function good?

A speedo kit from Yamaha? It must be new, back in February I asked if Yamaha made one & was told no. Also, there were no aftermarket kits available at that time.

The lack speedo was one of the factors that help sway me to the Honda. That just my prefernce, not slamming the Kodiak, it was my second choice for a quad. Yamaha should have at least put the same type speedo that comes on Grizzly!

Good luck on your speedo kit, I have seen several post from people that have mounted a bicycle speedo on their quad.

Ask your dealer to find out if he can order one from Canada...here they are sold with a speedo already installed.

I put the mountain bike speedo on my kodiak. I didn't want the factory unit as it cannot be re-calibrated for different size tires and the mountain bike unit is lots cheaper and has more features.
I find I rarely look at the speedo while riding anyway. The distance, average speed, top speed and hour meter is what I find most usefull.
I don't mean to be rude but to make a decision between the Rancher and the Kodiak based on a speedo seems a bit funny to me. But we all are different in our own way.

I have the factory speedo kit and it was $99 it should have been installed at the factory but since it wasn't I did it myself. work great.

2000 Kodiac 26" Mud Sharks, Factory speedo and brush guard, hand guards, Aux lights and hopefully a fender extention kit if I can find one.
