Default extra '01 Raptor engine build-up...

I found a mint engine out of a 2001 Raptor for $1500 and I'm thinking about getting it to build up for fun. You know, build this one extreme and keep my original one relatively stock.

If I do get the extra engine, I'm thinking about going ***** out and tearing it down, replacing the tranny with '02 spec gears, sending off the head to get it ported, boring it out to 105mm, 12:1 piston, stage 2 cam, and such.

What do you guys think, any suggestions???

i don't own a raptor but its a great idea to have a 2 motors, one built and one for play..

i have a 2000 330EX all built up and it has too much power for me to play with my friends on, so i had to buy a lil blaster to tear up on )

Jus tmake sure you get a good place to do your engine work..TC racing FST, ect

If you know it's a good engine and tranny....add NOS too your existing set-up.....and you will have a back up in stock if needed.

NOS isn't really an option where I live, and I'm not planning on using it for drags (exclusively). I just want more power everywhere, and I need it to be semi reliable. I've heard that going to the 105mm piston kind of kills reliability, so maybe I'll just 686 kit it.

Does anyone know if Craycraft has a web-site?

What do you guys think about the Craycraft 686 kit? Seems like a good deal to me. Maybe that same kit but in 720 flavor?

BTW- thanks for the link, Ward!

I know yamaha4life has one of their 686 kits. We went to LA Dunes here recently. He waxed my butt anytime we raced. MY 686 couldn't compete on power. Now mine is ported by me but I beat my far share of people with it sooo...

If I was thinking about a 720 kit I would wait to see how Raptor RCR's runs when they get it done. I'm sure it will be a haul butt bike. I think its going to be Craycrafts first 720, or 730 I think they call it.

No problem on the link BTW

Maybe I'll do that, then... I still need to get ahold of the guy selling the Raptor engine to make sure it checks out. The only thing bad about this motor is that it's an '01.
