98 Warrior rear break noise
#1
Our 98 Warrior has developed a noise on the rear break disk after riding a short time each day. This never happened before, until we had the rear axel bearing replaced. When we wipe the rear disk with a cloth the noise stops, until we ride again. Is it possible that the break clearance was adjusted when fixing the axel, so now the tolerance between the break pad and disk is closer and any dirt on the disk makes this squealing noise? When I apply the rear break the noise stops and then starts again after releasing. I am concerned if this is cause for worry or not. The noise is more of a nusiance than anything else. A friend mentioned that a little amount of WD-40 would take care of this noise. Any comments? Thank you for your help!

DON'T put any chemical on the brakes especially a lube. You can clean them with "brake clean", or either. The rear caliper should float and center itself. If it has just been apart, I would guess somthing is binding and it is not floating properly. Also check that there is freeplay at the rear brake rod or the piston may not be retracting properly causing a pad to drag. If all appears correct, apply a film of brake quite on the back of the pads, that will dampen any noise.
