Default Arctic Cat Unveils the 2017s

Leading the charge with their 60" wide Wild Cat side-by-side, 2017 is looking like a pretty stacked year for Arctic Cat:

Pretty much the same models as they had for 2016. The 1000cc Wildcat seems noticeably absent though. Perhaps a new model is going to replace it? I think they should have put the 1000cc engine in the 60" Wildcat Sport to make it more competitive in hp with the Rzr 1000 S and 60" Maverick 1000. The 700 twin is pretty peppy for its displacement but it falls a little short when compared to 1000cc class machines.

The Alterra does look a bit different but the other models look pretty much the same. I also think its a bit surprising that Arctic Cat was the first to put a 1000cc class engine in anything. Most would think that Polaris or Can-Am would have been first but it was the Thundercat that beat them all.

Don,t just go by engine size. The 800 Outlander had the same power as the 1000 AC when they came out and the new 850 Outlander has more power.

Polaris has a 750cc Weber 85hp 4stroke twin cylinder they have been using in their Jet Skis and Sleds for years but they will not put it in a ATV for some reason.
With the turbo assist hooked to it is rated at 145hp without it's 85hp in plain form.

Dame thing is a work of art.

I think the Alterra looks like an Arctic Cat with a uni-brow.

Yamaha has plenty of powerful engines in their jet skis and snowmobiles that they won't put in anything else. I'm sure the 1000cc triple in the YXZ is a detuned version of a snowmobile or jet ski engine. I bet that engine could easily make 150 hp with the proper tuning.

Probably right, with Snowmobile engines in ATVs there may be law suits we people start dying.

My 2012 Ski-Doo 800 e-tech twin is 160hp stock , it's a 2 stroke so it does not need the turbo like the 750 Weber to make it's 145hp.

Many places to safely ride a 80 mph on a flat frozen lake but not so much on a ATV trail. LOL
