Cotton or foam air filter?
Hey everybody, just trying to get a consensus as to which everyone prefers on their atv's/go karts/mini bikes etc. My daugthers TaoTao 110 atv came with a cheap looking cone filter that doesnt want to stay on the carb regardless how much I tighten the clamp. Looks like a blue cotton K&n clone.
I want to get a better quality, hopefully slightly larger filter media cone filter, either K&N oiled cotton or Uni dual layer foam, but not sure what everyone prefers on atv's. Ive always had good luck using K&n cotton filters on my cars, but have never had any experience with foam at all.
K&N, or Uni air filter?
What size base would I need to correctly fit the carb on this 110cc gy6 clone? 38mm? 42mm? XXmm?

This is like an oil post when you mention air filter preference also. Uni imo makes the most sense also, but there are die hard K&N lovers out there that swear by them. I've had to repair engine damage where neglected K&N filters were used and never cared for them except for street use. You stop up an Uni with dirt and engines will just choke down from lack of air,but clean and oil the filer and it's up and running again. No grit will get past it to eat up pistons. K&N if kept up with cleaning and oiling along with a good outer sock I guess would be ok. I'm just biased against them from what I had to go through.

Foam. Period. Everywhere.
My daughter was sponsored by Velocity filters (K&N type).
Curtis Sparks was her motor builder and said "she'll learn". In the meantime, a new piston was installed every 2 races. Sparks sells a foam filter to go over a stock foam filter. That says alot in my book.
