Rob,
the best thing to do is spend five bucks at the local shop and get them done quick and easy. If thats not your style, then use a ratchet strap around the tire to queeze the beads into position. If you aint got an air compressor, forget it! Much quick air is a must. Vasoline will seal any small leaks around the bead until it seats, but I don't reccomend that with only 6-8 lbs pressure...might cost you later.

I seat the tires on my atv using the tire soap that tire shops use. It is thick, and slick. Coat the tire beads with the soap, and push the tire onto the side of the rim that has the longest taper. Clip the air hose on the valve steem and gently pull the tire up toward the side that is not touching the rim. Another trick is to use a second air hose with a blow nozzle attached. As you are puting air in the steem, blow air between the rim and the bead. It always works for me. Hope this helps. Dave

thanks for the suggestions guys bu i went to a friend of my dads who has been a mechanic for like 25 years and he did it for us---for any of you do-it-yourselfers like me remove the inner valve stem to get more air in to seat the bead.you need a special tool to do it but id bet you all have one. thanks alot.

I watched my father-in-law do that with Acetalyne torch, on a tire for my van. Yes, it was freaky when the tire bounced off the floor. He claims to have done it to skidder tires too! But, he says you have to put real air in them before the exploded air shrinks, because it will suck the bead right back off the rim.
