Price for Rancher
I bought a new 07 about 3 weeks ago. It's a 420 ES 2x4. Was an overstock special price and I knew the sales manager. I wound up paying 4600 after tax/doc fees etc. So far I love it. Went for a good hard ride this past Sunday with my brother in law and went through some swampy areas with it. I don't have any tough terrain for a "break in" period tho. I'm gonna try and go the the ATV park near my house this weekend, that will be a good work out for it.

That's old school thinking! Bearing tolerances are way tighter these days, so those excessively long break-in periods just aren't necessary.
Why does your owner's manual still recommend you baby it during break-in....becasue of the lawyers!!! What would happen if they told you you have to go out and do monster hillclimbs or high speed for the first few hours you ride your machine. It is new and you are unfamiliar with it at that point, so you might crash it, and then you would sue them becasue you were just donig what they told you to do. This is toatally a legal issue!!!
But take heart....Honda dnyo's each machine before it leaves the factory. They run it full throtle through each gears. What does this do??? Is it a way for them to begin the ring seating process for you....you bet!!! This is probably enough for the average rider, but enthusiasts interested in performance, need to continue the process!
Of all the manufacturers, Honda has the shortest recommended break-in periods.....only the first 15 miles!!! My Yamaha and Kawi dual-sport dirt bikes, recommend hundreds of miles. Why, they are street legal, and again, the manufacturers are worried you will go out on the street and go 100 mph and hurt yourself........
