HELP front diff pinion seal leaking on 06 grizz 660
i have a 06 grizz 660.its actully my wifes.its only got 30 hours on it .the bikes like brand new.so tonight i went in the garage and under the the front diff is a puddle of gear oil.it looks to be coming from the seal.we live in south fl so most of the riding is in the swamps of fl.so mostly mud.i have other atvs a bigbear 350 i had for ten years never had a diif leak.2 polaris spoertsman for 7 years and no problem with these.so i cant beleave her new grizzly has a bad seal(evan thou its looks like it so far).from what i can see its looks fine except for the leak.no shake in the bearing or driveshaft.the diif is low on oil .i cant see or feel any in the fill hole.so before i start ripping this hole diif out to change the seal i was wondering if anybody else has this problem.it just happed since our last ride a week ago.
thansk for the help

well i filled it back up and rode it for 2 minutes, but i guess the seal is bad.its still leaking.i cant beleave this .30 hours of my wife riding it.i have several atvs. all 4x4 and never had this seal go bad.i think this is some kinda defect in the seal or the design was bad.
so nobody else has had this problem.i find it hard to beleave im the only one.

Matt - you are not the only one! It isn't that hard to replace the seal on the diff. The seal should be installed from the outside - so the only ripping apart you need to do is to remove the CV axle on that side!
Well I found out last night when doing my "over the winter" maintenance. I removed the rear skid plates and what I thought was just dirt from around the rear diff - it turns out that it was diff oil mixed with dirt! The Left side (as you look at it from the back) Diff oil seal is shot! :-( and the oil is a grayish - black... so not that much water got in their.... It never leaked enough to make a puddle which is GOOD News! Well thankfully it is March and the stealers aren't that busy right now... so I will be dropping it off at the stealer as this should definitely be a warranty claim.

mine is leaking at the fromt drive shaft .from the pinion seal .not the cv axl on the wheel.so i need to pull the front drive shaft and probley the whole diff. i dought there will be enough room to work on it in the bike.i let my bikes sit for more then year with moving them never had a seal problem.must be the new cheap seals that are doing this.i have a 97,99,95.all 4x4 that get rode very hard in nothing but very sandy mud and never had any seal problem.but the new 06 my wife rides leaks.sounds like maybe i need to ride it a little break everything in.
