'95 Wolverine, axle and final worn. Best way to replace?
Ahoy!
I got this 1995 Wolverine and one day when I went to shift into first gear it made the dreaded rumble sound. Popped it into 4x4 and drove it back to the house. After taking the axle out and inspecting the 'cogwheel' inside the final drive, it's worn down to hell.
I'm not to bright on part names if anyone knows how I could find a replacement for it or a way to "jerry rig" it so it'll work again. I'd be grateful for any suggestions or links to parts to fix it, as I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for. I can upload pictures in a bit if anyone wants to see what it's all about.
Or I can just use it as a front wheeler drive ATV.
Somebody offered to buy it for $400 as is, but I have a feeling it's worth more than that plus parts once it's fixed, if a prairie can be sold for 1,500$.

The crown wheel and pinion don't often give trouble so you may find a good used "diff" at a breakers or through eBay. The term "diff" should only be applied to the front on most quads, the rear one is a "bevel box" but most refer to it as a diff. The axle shaft splines that go through the crown wheel do give trouble, so check the replacement crown wheel's splines are OK.
