HOW TO carb adjustment on any Chinese atv. Kazuma, Yamoto, Redcat, Baja, Sunl, etc...

Hello guys!
Thank you for all the helpful advice.
I bought a used SunL 70cc quad about a year ago as a project for when my kid gets older. I finally have had some time to work on it.
When I got it the quad had not run for a couple years. The previous owners wife was selling it so I never got to quiz the guy that had worked on it. She said it was running then he did some work on the carb and could not get it going and it was left just like that. I drained the old fuel out and got a new battery. I figured I would just see if it would start. When I put fuel in I realized he had put the fuel filter in the wrong way. I couldn't believe that might be all it was but sure enough after I turned it around it started right up after a few tries. It ran rough and eventually cut out.
after putting a bit more fuel in I noticed it was draining out the float bowl tube so I figured I had a stuck float or stuck needle and I decided to pull the carb apart (I know I should have started with that!) It was full of crud so I cleaned it all out and put it back together. No more fuel pouring out the float bowl drain! HOWEVER!.... and this shocked me a bit. It looked like the previous owner had taken a finishing nail and stuck it inside the pilot jet??? I thought maybe it fell in there and he didnt see it somehow or somthing but after better inspection it looked like he pinched it off with pliers at the top so it would not come out. I pulled it out and put everything back together. I also adjusted the needle clip all the way down on the needle as was suggested by a few people on here.
When I went to start it this time I ran the mixture screw all the way in and 2 turns back and the idle screw in and a little back. It struggled to start for a bit and would not start or run at all if I had the choke pulled out. With full throttle I could get it to start but it would stall out after I let off the throttle. I tried to warm it up a bit and even rode it around a bit and it seemed really bogged down. If I let up on the throttle it would just stall. It was also smoking a bit and smelled like it was lean. When I stopped and checked my mixture and idle screw adjustments I couldn't get it to start again. I pulled the plug and it looked really wet and black and like it was running really rich. I cleaned it up and again I could only get it to start with full throttle and it will not idle on it's own no matter where I adjusted the screws.
I dont have a lot of experience with this stuff and am out of ideas. Does anyone have anything I can try? I am thinking might be easier to just buy another carb and start fresh but I figured I would check with you first. I would love to get this thing running for my kid and I appreciate and ideas you have.
Thanks

Sorry if im in the wrong section but I have a linhai big horn that I bought from a friend and im trying to simply get it running. I think it could be the carburetor bc it tries to turn over and is a brand new carb. I cant find any literature on these machines and any help would be greatly appreciated

1.spark
2.fuel
3.air
1. Is it getting spark? Pull the spark plug and stick it back in the boot. Hold the rubber boot (Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word *not the plug) next to the engine metal and turn the bike over. You should see spark on the plug. Plenty of youtube vids to show you this.
2. When you pull the plug check if the end looks wet. Does it look like it's getting fuel?
3.make sure the air cleaner is clean. Have you tried firing it with the choke all the way on? half on? And all the way off with a good chunk of time between each? Maybe some starter fluid sprayed in?
Again youtube will have videos on all of this that should help you get it running. Those 3 things are universal between any carborated engine.
If you do all three of those things and it's still not starting give me some more info and I will try to help.

Got a 110 trailmaster xrx with a 2018 "Why Go Stock " upgraded Carb. The carb is still new. Never put hours on it. I'm almost done refurbishing the kart and I can't get the carb to idle. It starts right up. I need to full choke it to 1/2 choke to keep it running. Both carb screws have been adjusted several times. Still no go.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Take the old carb apart, clean it out and put it on the Kart. If you don't still have the old one, take the new one apart, it may just have some dirt/swarf from manufacture stuck in a passageway. I think you have found the answer as to "why go stock"? You don't have to mess about with stock.
