Default 300cc China Atv

I purchased a 300cc atv I believe it is a Bashan it is the same as the Roketa ATV-61
I changed the oil in it but it has a chrome cover on the side of the engine that says oil filter. I did not remove it because I did not know if it was a filter or a screen & if I could reuse the gasket.
here is a picture of the engine300cc China Atv-1170978513494.jpg
Changing the spark plug looks to be a chore also not much room to get a socket in there.
Does anyone know anything about these engines?

Welcome to the forum new atv owner 16!

That cover looks like it would have a filter under it...I wouldnt sweat hurting the gasket as much as Id worry about getting a matching filter..

That engine is new to me in Chinese machines...most use the push rod 200/230cc engine style..Hard for me to tel lin that pic...does that engine have a overhead cam?

It runs great, I got a steal on it on ebay with 2 seconds left for $800.00 + $178 freight. Not bad under $1000 out the door.

Gotta love Ebay!! Sounds like a decent deal for sure...Id bet some have paid 2X that or more for the same machine.

Very nice looking quad too...Im getting real sick of the Yamaha 80 Raptor plastic on Chinese quads...Thats a huge improvement..

I cant tell if its a overhead cam engine but did notice the 2 header pipes...This is a single cylinder isnt it?

If I was to guess I would think they used the same filter a Honda 400ex would use or 95% of all Honda engines use. You can buy them at Walmart or any Honda shop & usually around $6.. take it off first & bring it in, but I would guess this is what you need.

Follow the "help diagnose stator" sticky at the top of this page, that should tell you if it is a stator fault. If it is, I would guess at that engine being a Honda clone, so a Honda stator of the right type would fit. Problem is, which Honda is it? Other way to fix the faulty stator is to send it to a re-winder. Here in the UK we regularly use them, after getting two different non genuine stators for a Honda 400AT, one didn't fit and the other didn't work, we got the old one re-wound for about the same price.
