As the owner of a Ural sidecar I understand that kind of frustration. Parts are dirt cheap but when I need them I got to buy them from Sergey in Ukraine and wait 3 weeks........sucks alot.

I guess it depends on what your definition of youth class is. When I see youth racing I see kids racing 90cc machines. But then again my son is 9...so thats what I consider youth. If your son is 15 then yeah, I guess the 250ex is a youth quad.

My main reason for buying the 250ex is its user friendly with the auto clutch. All my ATVs are auto clutchs.....when someone shows up and wants to ride I can get them going in 5 mins or less. I could have bought a 300ex or even a 400ex for a little more money (less than $500) in my area but then for the type of riding I do (mostly in the yard and field) they would have been overkill and FAR less novice rider friendly.

Ive been pretty impressed with the 250cc machine really.....pretty peppy for what it is.

Not my definition its what Honda conciders it is these days. But I agree they are nice machine, Heck I drove a 250 TRX for 20 years and I got by fine. But as you know times change.

I go out with guys quading with my Yamaha 350 4x4 and get teased its a "womens" quad or "kids" quad being that its so small lol!! They told me I was nuts to buy such a small 4x4 quad as they drive 450cc to 800cc machines. But then these are the sort of guys that spend more on Tires and rims that many us invest in a quad itself!

A little late to the party but I would characterize what is said here as constructive criticism since nearly all of the comments come from owners and active riders of chinese quads. If it were a lot of negative and no value comments like"chinese quads suck" "who is stupid enough to buy a chinese quad". "you get what you deserve buying a chinese quad", "only thing good about chinese quad is they are disposable", etc.

In the past the forum has had true bashers like this but fortunately they are all gone. It may seem like a lot of us are "bashing" but we are giving honest first hand experience with these things, many purchased in a different economic time when marketing these things made perfect sense to a target market.

Today that target market has shrunk drastically, those with discretionary dollars to spend beyond that to keep food on the table, pay the mortgage, pay down them credit cards, and stash money away for the day when you get laid off and no new job prospects. Add those who already are pinched and have to sell some toys to make the rent payment and you have the current market where few buyers and lots of supply of used clean quads equals LOW prices. That in addition to the labor shortage in China (yes, it is true) does not allow chinese quad prices to drop to remain competitive.

There are unbelievable deals today if you are patient and shop hard so it makes no sense to touch a new chinese atv when you can find a used big name one for nearly the same price.

I believe everyone of us making what might be considered bashing comments still have them and still ride them so if they were such crap why would we do that. Because they are still fun to take out for a ride and having the spare to take a friend or guest makes the experience that much more fun. Enjoy!

I love it....its one of my favorite machines. Its not fast, its not refined.....but its unique and I can ride with my 2 kids anywhere we want to go. I can go to the grocery store and really carry some stuff.

I couldnt afford a new one but I scored a 1997 with about 1200 miles on it for $3800. Its the year before they went to electric start......so mine is kick only but it starts fairly easily and reliably.

I was excited about riding it in the winter....figured it would be cool to slide around town on......but try as hard as I could I couldnt get it to break loose....it just went and went. Ive rode it in 14 to 16 inches of snow and it didnt even struggle a bit.

They consider it a youth quad....then they put a sticker forbidding anyone under 16 to ride it per their instructions....that doesnt make since.

I understand what you mean about the "little quad" jokes. I ride a 2001 Suzuki KQ 300. My buddies all ride big machines as well. Heck at 300cc that IS my big machine....the others are all 200 or 250s.

THAT THING IS THE COOLEST! I swear it looks like it came out of some time machine from the 40 or 50s. Looks like some gestaspo think from the movies. I had no idea these were being made so recent. thx for sharing. only "slightly" OT of chinese quads but hey...

If you check out the website they are fairly unchanged since 1941 when they were first made. In about 2001 they went from 650cc to 750cc......then in 2005 they went to brembo disc brakes on the front wheel and then the electric parts where farmed out to others such as Ducati.....make a more reliable but more expensive bike. The new ones dont look much different...in fact I LOVE the "Red October" special edition.

I also love the Gear Ups....

The new ones run anywhere from 11K to 14K.

"Im guessing hes shooting for giving the original poster a few more ideas for cheaper, name brand quads he could look into in his area. Atleast thats what I got he was wanting from the below post of his."

yep thats it, i owned 3 china atv's you get what you pay for, they can buy what they want but should be aware of what there getting and there are other options out there after what i have learned, i would save money for another 6 months if need be and buy used big name. china minis are fine they dont get pounded on, give me china quad upnorth for a weekend and it wont come back in one piece, i read all the problems and dealt with a few small ones, i sold them before i had issues and knowing they wont last i opted to sell and buy good machines.

im not bashing, but will steer people towards big name used..they are out there just got to look....and im not the first person on this forum to say that.

I do have a question. Why on the Chinese quad forum is the bashing of Chinese quads acceptable?
Welcome to the forum Stanb999!

If you had been reading a couple of years you would have seen real bashing..And not just the machines, but bashing of the people who bought the machine..Lots of editing in those days... now its just the facts...

The Good. The Bad. and the Ugly...

No one but the Importers think their machines are just like Hondas anymore..

Fact is 25 years ago Japanese bikes were harder to find parts for and ran far worse than any of these chinese today. I remember waiting 6 weeks for a carb rebuild kit... A month for rings and crank bushings. Bad clutches that would slip when hot and cold on the same ride. Hoses and plastics that were fragile. do you remember those junkie plastic gas tanks that got brittle after a few months of being a gas tank? Ignation systems that wouldn't give spark if you went near water. God forbid you road in it!!! They ran for 4 hours and needed worked on for 4 days. Basically a day of repair per hour of riding. which was ok as long as you only rode on one of the weekend days.

The chinese have a bit more work to do on getting up to grade as far as materials. But the largest thing IMHO will be dealerships to provide quality setup and repair service. Because as we see posted here all the time. Setup and maintance is the key to happy riding. Once that happens they will be almost at par.
Certainly not the people reading this forum.

Your kidding me right? 25 years ago you could get a part for anything made by any of the Big 4...and still can get most of it today...with the Chinese... your lucky if the Chinese "Mfgr" is still around.. 4 hrs of riding for 4 days of wrenching? What did you ride?

Almost at par? Cmon? You gotta be kidding? Are you a Dealer? No one but some one selling these things could possibly say some thing like that..
