Another 90 cc Carb question..it was running..
#1
Hello, I have a ATV-109 that I recently did some work on. It was running good today and then started bogging when throttle was applied. I took the carb off to clean it out and check everything. What I did find was that the main jet in the middle of the carb was not screwed in and was loose. I took gas and cleaned all them out. I took compressed air blew it through all the jets. I screwed the main jet thing back in firmly. it did not go in flush, there were still some threads showing, but thats as far as it would go in without forcing and I didnt do that. I reassembled the carb and left the air screw and idle screw as they were cause it was running good. Upon reassembly, it would not idle. If I choke it, it would idle, but when running on choke, you can tell its choked. I fiddled with the air screw and idle screw and even lowered and raised the needle clip. The problem is that if I can get it to idle, when I give it throttle, the throttle doesnt let off enough, the motor stays reved up and gradually idles down, but its very unsafe, in face, I did a wheelie and fell off cause when I let off the throttle, it didnt stop. When its choked though, it can lower the idle and the throttle responds appropriately. Does it sound like the slide is not in properly? or a air mixture problem? I would prefer not to take the carb off again if possible for a few reasons, but if absolutely necessary, I guess I could.

Welcome to the forum poboy62!
If you need the choke to run the pilot jet is clogged.....Id set the fuel screw to 2 turns out and try and see if it will idle with out the choke... If not the carb needs cleaning and Id install a fuel filter.
