Default Meerkat Bogs

I have a Meerkat 50 that bogs and cuts out past half throttle. I have had the carb clean, adjusted the vavles and checked the plug. Any suggestions?

If it bogs out at more throttle, it probably is starving for fuel. I would start with the carb first. These carbs are very cheap. I would replace it. In my experience bogging at higher speeds is from carb restriction like dirty air filter, etc. So double check the choke that it is open, check the air filter, and see if the problem occurs with air filter off.(test run)

If the problem continues after that we can rule out a fuel problem. Then it will be in the ignition circuit. My money is on the fuel/air ratio, though.

I am pretty sure it is not fuel. I have had the carb rebuilt. I am thinking ignition. I need to make time to check it further. What is the best way to check the ignition system?

It is probably fuel because the jet in the carb is plugged or dirty.
You need to replace the jets when cleaning the carb to ensure the best performance.
It would be odd for the spark to drop off at higher RPMs. If it starts you got spark, if it bogs out you have an air/fuel ratio problem.

Who cleaned the carb? Where the jets replaced?
Also, if the float valve sticks the bike will idle and rev up but run out of fuel by emptying the fuel bowl at higher RPMs.

The best answer for carb problems is to replace the carb completely. When I do this I usually replace the 19mm carb with a 24mm carb and new appropriately sized air cleaner.

I have tried spraying carb cleaner in carb when cutting out, and that just made it worse. It is hard to start, I have to crank it over for alittle while to get it to start.

did someone rebuild it for you? did they show you the used parts? please don't mistake my questions for being arrogant or anything or doubting your word(i'm not doubting anyone's word, just playing devil's advocate), BUT, reading the posts, i concur it is more than likely a fuel problem. when cleaning jets, clean, inspect, clean, inspect. you have to repeat this cycle so there is no doubt. it may take 6 times of cleaning them to get it. when you get it clean, you'll see a difference. rod out the jets, blow'em with compressed air, carb cleaner, rod them out, inspect for daylight, etc.... you'll eventually get them clean. AND, it'll be worth the hassle of doing it.

This will not help. The Carb must be taken apart(disassembled) and each part cleaned. The pilot jet(small one) is probably clogged. You would be surprised how much gunk can get into a carb.
