Default help replacing stator!

My son has a 110 he was riding and it quit. There is no spark. I spent hours in here and got great ideas on what to check. I first pulled the kill wire from cdi and still nothing. I am getting 0 volts from stator to the cdi which tells me its the stator. I confirmed it with a 3" crack in the cover from when then chain fell off and got bound. Anyway, I have never replaced a stator. Any good advice is welcome. I am pretty mechanicaly savy. I do have a fly wheel puller.
Fyi these little quads are great! I bought this for my boy Christmas 08 this is the first real issue!
Thanks for the help!
Bill

There are two voltages from the stator to the CDI required for spark:

1) AC power

2) Timing trigger

Which of these two are reading zero volts?

Normally tests on the stator output are done at the CDI connector because that tests the stator *and* all the wiring to the CDI. There is another set of connections between the stator and CDI (and other stuff such as the voltage regulator) at the stator wiring where it comes out of the stator cover. Have you looked for damaged or unplugged connections here?

Default help replacing stator!

The AC wire had 0 volts. I conducted the test at the CDI with it plugged in. Thanks for jumping in on this one Lynn!!

Lynn.
I did not unplug the voltage reg! it looks to be ok it is a little mud spattered. Im guessing stator because of the crack in the cover

I noticed I said I conducted the test with the meter with the CDI plugged in. I unplugged it and still got 0 volts to ground on the AC power at the plug

Default help replacing stator

I pulled the stator cover and BINGO! I mentioned the crack in the side, well it also caved in about 1/4 inchs so the litle black plastic cap on the inside was rubbing on the flywheel until it breached and pulled out all the wires inside it! I am going out on a limb and guessing this is why i have no spark! I am trying to post a pic

I just had an issue with my daughter's Coolster 110cc 3050c ATV. The ATV was turning over but it wasn't starting. There was no spark in the spark plug so after doing a little research, I figured out there are 6 things that could go wrong electrically causing it not to spark.

1. bad spark plug
2. ignition coil
3. contact coil
4. CDI box (Capacitor Discharge Ignition)
5. Voltage Regulator
6. Alternator (stator)

Unfortunately, I didn't have the experience to test several of these components to see if they were bad or not. Fortunately, the parts are relatively inexpensive so I bot them 3 at a time (process of elimination). The issue with with our ATV was the Contact Coil. It was located under the seat of the ATV. Once i replaced that, the spark plug was sparking.

A couple of other things you can buy if you end up replacing all 6 parts:

1. kill switch
2. key set (on off key set)
3. remote control starter (you can disconnect this all together to see if it starts).
4. new electrical harness.

Your best bet is to start with with the first 6 items above. Once you get the frame off, replacing these items is very easy and straight forward.
