Tao Tao Suspension

Tao Tao Suspension
Hi all, I purchased a Tao Tao 110cc utility body atv for my 6 year old son about three months ago. It's his first atv and so far has served us well as he progresses and learns to ride. The biggest issue is the front suspension. He only weighs 45 lbs and its to stiff, to the point where its holding back his progress. I've contacted Zaksatvzone.com who has numerous shocks listed for chinese atvs but the rep really had no idea about what they were selling and had nothing to offer. The eye to eye length with the shocks mounted is 11" rear and 10.5" front which I suspect is 11" because the shocks all look the same.If it helps they have black springs and are adjusted to the softest setting. Does anyone have and idea or suggestion where I can purchase replacement shocks? Thanks for any help.

I feel your pain on this. This question has been asked a bunch of times and the only real alternative I know of is to buy shocks that came off a name branded machine. It's the same deal with our 110D. They barely compress with my 225lb **** on the machine and that's with the adjustment collars set to the softest setting. It's not only that. They offer no dampening what so ever. They are just pogo sticks. A real source for replacements would be awesome. I have a feeling the Chinese replacements you see online are just like what we have.

I have the same machine as yours.I bought a pair of front shocks off ebay for $20.They were the same dimension, almost and their springs were much longer and made with a thinner diamater spring.I used one of these on the back to replace the rear and it works great!!
On the left over one I experimented by removing the lower spring holder and rewelded it an inch lower. This worked too much as now the spring was too soft!
I will be looking at dealing with the front in the summer along the same lines or figuring out some other cheap way of making it soft. I can sell you my left over one if you like.Hope this helps.

I`m working on the fronts now.Modifying the existing shocks so they are not so stiff and have much more usuable spring range.I am thinking to have the atv set up so when sitting on it(with my weight) the springs are compressed 50% of their travel range. That leaves travel for driving over depressions in the ground and travel for driving over bumps.
