Question Please HELP I dont know what type of 4 wheeler I bought

I bought a 4 wheeler off someone, he said his kid just outgrew it,and it ran but needed some carb work. It looked like it sat in the weather over the winter (not sure if that matters on why it wont start) I beleive it is a 49 or 50cc. I have this mysterious wire coming off the battery with 4 prongs, but nowhere to plug it into. The 4 wheeler says New Era on it and I there are the letters SHJL-Z on it somewhere as well, however I cannot find anything on the internet about these. Has anyone heard of the New Era Mini Quad or 4 wheeler (not sure the technical name for it). if so any info would be greatly appreciated. Maybe its the same as another 4 wheeler under another name??? I really could use a wire diagram. I have no idea about these type of 4 wheelers, tried changing spark plug and cleaning carb, still wont start.
I could post a pic but am new to this forum and dont know where to do that. If anyone has any info and would like you could also email me at rstrebler12@sbcglobal.net and maybe I could send a pic of the mysterious wire thats hanging with nowhere for it to go???? I believe this forum may be my only hope.....THANk you!!!

Default Chinese 4 wheeler ~ One more thing

Also I believe it has voltage regulator, cylinoid, I am guessing coil pack with plug wire. And I have one wire clip with 4 prongs I am guessing it attaches to CDI box, and the prong has nothing to attach to...I dont see a CDI box. I am getting fire when I touch post on cylinoid, I have replaced the spark plug (It was an E3) Again I do have a pic (jpeg) of the wire that isn't attached to anything, however I dont know how to upload it to this website. Thanks again for taking your time to help.

Does it look like any of these?

Those are the newer models, and you didn't say how old yours may be. (if they told you that)

Hopefully, it's a start in the right direction.

A four pin CDI looks like this:

Here is a five pin CDI:

Ignition switches also have four prongs. What are the colors of the wires on this mystery connector?

By "getting fire" when touching the solenoid posts, do you mean the starter motor is turning? Or do you actually have spark? To test spark you need to take out the spark plug, wire it back up and hold the plug threads against the engine block while cranking the starter and looking for spark jumping the plug gap.

I have never heard of your particular quad, and don't have a wiring diagram. However wiring between chinese quads is often similar, and with some tests using a meter and some logic we can figure your wiring out.

So the previous owner said it just needed some carburetor work. Is this guy your brother in law, or something? Why do you believe him? Buying quads in a non-running condition is a big red flag unless you know what you are doing. Even then it is a big risk.

But don't give up hope yet. See if you have spark.

While the plug is out do this test also: put your thumb over the spark plug hole and press hard. Crank the engine. Can you hold the pressure in, or does it force your thumb off with a "pop"?

Dribble in a 1/2 teaspoon of gas into the spark plug hole. Quickly reinstall the plug (use your fingers to start the plug threds before using a wrench), and try to start. Any signs of life?

Here are 2 pics of the wiring I am going to post a couple more now that I figured out how. I actually bought this 4 wheeler at a yard sale for $50 thinking it was worth it even if it needed some work, however I had NO idea what I was getting into with NO refernces on the internet. I am soooo grateful to have you helping me out, for you are my only hope at this time I will go take a few more pics and upload them.

I'd have bought it for 50 bucks. Just for the tinkering factor.

the best way to figure out what that connector goes to is to follow it through the wire harness. Get a multi meter and start chasing each wire. You will be able to find where it goes and if you don't know what the device is that its connected to then snap a pic and post up.

I would assume the red wire is Power
green wire as a ground (on my Chinese ATV, green is ground go figure)
and is that two (2) black wires ?

Verify that the red is power and that green is ground. when you get that done your are half way though solving this problem.

I have been going through wiring issues on mine. I know how you feel. Take some time (really long time) and research. Call the manufacture and see if they have a source for the wire diagrams. Call dealers sometimes they have users manuals that have wire diag in the back of them.
