hi, there new member here looking for some info

i picked up a TAOTAO ATA-125d pretty sure it is a loncin engine. 124cc on the head.

the manual talks about the engine oil and the gearbox oil

i think this thing has a wet clutch also and i want to make sure there is oil in the gearbox

how do i fill the gearbox oil or where is the fill plug .i can see and find the engine oil plug with the dipstick on it . but where to fill the gearbox.
also it says to use 15w40 does it have to be special stuff designed for these small engines or is all 15w40 considered the same how about using synthetic is that a good or bad idea any info would be greatly appreciated . the only oil i could find was shell ROTELLA T 15W40

I have 2 Taotao ATA-125D atvs and you are correct. It has a wet clutch. The engine oil and gearbox oil are shared. I use 700ml of Wally World 15w-40. Rotella 15w-40 works great too. Do NOT use synthetic!! Synthetic oils contains additives that could cause the clutch to slip. Just add the 15w-40 oil where you found the dipstick. Remember to change it often as this is the life blood of this little engine. Cheers!!
