I went looking for info on 125cc hammerheads and found lots of confusion. Many people reported that they had been sold a 150cc machine, only to find 124cc stamped on the engine case. Some said it was really a 150cc machine which is a modified 125cc. Other thought it really was 125cc.
The thing I'm wondering is whether your 125cc engine is a GY6 engine (like the 150cc hammerhead). You can search for pictures of GY6 engines to see. The key features to look for is the horizontal layout, the forced air cooling system with its open fan and plastic shrouded cylinder fins, and the fully automatic CVT belt drive. Don't pay attention to the engine side covers (everyone seems to make their own), and you may or may not have a kick startshaft sticking out.
