it must be a distillate. if so, no wonder it cuts deposits! distillates are a diesel range material. but with a solvent punch! ok, thanks.....

The naphtha and pale oil are not soluble in water. However, SeaFoam also contains isopropyl alcohol which is soluble in water. If you are using gasoline that contains ethanol (ethyl alcohol), you should not be using additives that contain alcohols. The ethanol that is added to gasoline is a powerful solvent. But since it is an alcohol it also attracts and is soluble in water. If you pay extra to purchase ethanol-free gas, why would you add to it an alcohol (SeaFoam)? You should just purchase E-10. Here is a list of fuel additives that do not contain alcohols and are not soluble in water.

Is your gas additive safe with E10 fuel?

Interesting that Berryman's B-12 isn't on the list. That would be my second choice of products.

I used to only use their carb cleaner.. now I buy the cheapest..do have one of their 1 gallon dip cleaner cans (very good stuff)

I should go back to taking carbs apart and cleaning them.. but it sure was nice finding a way around it.. especially on the 150.. the toughest carb to get at of all my Chinese stuff..dont really like taking the gas trimmer carb off either. Or the lawn mowe... or the...

Maybe use SeaFoam to clear up the problem and then drain the gas?

If it doesn't work, you're not out that much work. If you took it all apart and it would have, well...

Nice read on the E10 and additives. Seems I've hear more about the gas causing problems than the additives.

I use E-10 gas in my 2 newer automobiles. I only use ethanol free gas in my 1995 Toyota Landcruiser, atvs, lawn mower, gas trimmer. I would not add any fuel additives to E-10 gas. If I did, I would use Chevron with Techron which is a distillate and not soluble in water. I also add Techron to my gas cans of ethanol free gas that I use in my small engines. You can check this site to see where in your state you can find ethanol free gas.

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

As far as damage from ethanol in small engines, it has been extensively covered. Read here: List: E10 Engine Damage & Performance Issues.
