Is a Coolster 125cc engine a GY6 engine???
#1
Just started doing a lot of looking into getting the coolster running again and I seen a reference to them having a GY6 engine. I see a ton of info on that engine on the web but can not find anything that says the 125cc is definately a GY6 motor.
Lastly if it is will most any GY6 component fit on it. Or did they modify it enough that you have to use Coolster parts?

Gy6 engines have a distinct look, as well as having a belt driven Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
Look for a horizontal engine topology, with the cylinder cooling fins shrouded in black plastic (part of a forced air cooling system). Google GY6 engines to see what I mean.

I couldn't get your link to work for me without futzing around with it. Is this the link to your engine you were talking about?
125cc 4-stroke Engine with Semi-Auto Transmission w/Reverse, Electric Start for ATVs [308-999021]
If so that is definately not a GY6 engine. It looks more like an E22 style engine.
