going out on a limb for more details. i presume it starts and runs. does it idle and then slows down till it dies or won't idle at all? could be several things. anything from a plugged vent line or plugged vented gas cap making the tank fall under a vacuum until it vacuum locks and reaches equilibrium with the carb. could be an idle screw set way too low. could be a plugged idle jet. those orifices are way tiny and it doesn't take much to plug them up. food for thought. this'll get your started on your way to finding it.

also it cranks without pressing the right handlebar lever i dont think it should do that i think its electrical i know the motor runs i had it running two weeks ago and i rode it everyday i dont have a battery so i have to use the kick start option but it was cranking on the second kick every time one time i went to cut it off by turning the key and it stayed running
a friend of mine gave it to me said he couldnt find parts for it the wiring looks ok but some of the plastic connecters are rotten like falling apart can you tell me the neccessary components (vac hoses, relays to start motor) for it to run also the left handle is in operable i believe its the master cylindar but the cut off works would that play apart ?

yes, gas caps are vented either with wind vents or the "hole" in the middle where a hose attaches to vent the fuel tank.
on your ignition switch, have you inspected it? if we're messing with electrical, of which i'm thinking you're correct on that trail, then we'll need to start measuring with an ohm meter/multitester. LynnEdwards has a lot of threads that walk people through checking out their CDI and etc....i'm not an electrician. i always default to his advice and i read a lot of his posts when i am troubleshooting electrical systems. but for now, it almost sounds like it is a faulty kill wire(faulty short circuit) from the keyed ignition up to/from the CDI. don't run the quad without a battery. or at least a battery that is almost dead. you need that stator circuit to be complete. the left hand side is separate kill switch. the key can obviously kill it also. i don't know what is on your right handlebar that you are referring to. .
some quads have a safety interlock on them on the brake switch. even if your brake light doesn't illuminate, you should hear the left handlebar lever activate the switch. it'll sound like a "tink" when actuated. holler back. i hope Lynn will see this and help out on the electrical troubleshooting. he'll need to know if it is a 4 pin or a 5 pin CDI.

5 pin its new, i think a wiring harness wouldnt be a bad idea because i have a jump starter and when i try to start it the button start wont work till i wiggle the wires ill post some pics how bad is it if the voltage regulator is bad?
