Should be the one on the input shaft. Do the dogs move forward/back on either?

Default stuck in reverse

yes the dogs on the input shaft moves back and forth but the little gear dosent spin freely, seems like it got welded onto the main shaft, I tried to press it off and bend the metal support i was using? just wasnt sure if it was suppose to come off or not. Thanks Dave

Well since the dog moves the gear on the input shaft, they don't have to be constantly meshed, which means there isn't necessarily a freewheeling gear. Have you checked the forks?

the dog is on the the gear that the fork slides down to what i am guessing engages the little gear for reverse? when the fork moves the dog up to nutral the tranny is still in revese when the fork shifts into 1st gear the tranny locks up tight? thats why i was thinking that when the little gear is not engaged with the dog then either the little gear on the input shaft or the bigger gear it matches up with on the counter shaft should free spin?
