Hi, I'm brand new to the forum. Not sure if this is the place I'm supposed to be, but the search of the forum for 'xtremefirepower' netted a result of one thread for kids ATV's and referenced a Chinese ATV. So here goes....
I have a 2011 Suzuki KingQuad 400 that my 15 y/o son and I share. He likes to jump and climb and generally beat the crap out of it like any kid likes to do. So after hitting a tree and breaking the rear rack I've decided that I want to get him his own sport quad to beat around so I have mine to plow snow and do what I want to do with it.
I was looking for a used machine locally and have not found much in the price I want to pay. But I did come across the xtremefirepower web site selling new ATV's pretty cheap shipped to my door (some assembly required). I'm seeing 250's in the $1000 to $1500 range.
I'm wondering if anyone has any dealings with the machines offered there. Is it worth the price? Is it better to look for a $1000 very used name brand or get a $1300 new machine offered there. Any opinions or anyone currently own one of those machines?

welcome to the forum,
before i start, im by no means an expert.
before going buying a brand new chinese quad i would have a look at used ones. i know it sounds dodgey buying something relatively cheap second hand but what often happens is something small goes on it and the owner gets fed up and wants to sell it off!!
i got a pretty good 200cc quad second hand for €300. few electrical things gone like a solenoid and regulator rectifier. i bought these parts for cheap and has been working great since!!!
but if you decide to do this make sure you know what to look for in a quad and have a good idea how to fix them.
have a look at the frame, see if its rusty. check the tyres for grip, if they are worn it has done alot of donuts and hard reving. check the oil see if its silver. if it runs see how low it can idle. the lower the better.
up to yourself. if you are looking for a deal this is the way to go

I bought a Chinese brand Atv for my son because it was so much cheaper than The name brand atvs, I wish I had went and found a used name brand The quality is much better. I'm sure that if you look around for a while on this forum you will see there are lots of people with problems on The Chinese brands. I have to work in my sons nearly everytime he rides and trail riding that's a no go deal for his. I probably have put enough money and work into his to have bought a name brand. Brand new. Knowing what I know now next time I will definitely try my best to find The name brand even heavily used. Parts are easier to find. And I would have to bet much more reliable.

Are you nuts? Jumping chinese atv's? Forget that completely. This is totally over the top. It's a death wish.
My personal opinion (being 57 years old and all) is that jumping a quad or climbing steep hills are not for me. But if I was leaning in that direction I would not even consider a chinese quad at all. It's a matter of realistic expectations. If you think that a chinese quad is going to measure up to the performance of a major brand then you're living in a fantasy world.
But I have to add one more thought on all this: I've been to Carnegie State Vehicle Recreation Area (California) numerous times, and every so often we all have to shut down for the approach of the air ambulance helicopter. After the helicopter leaves you see the tow vehicle bringing back the wrecked vehicle. Often it is a motorcycle, and often it is an ATV. On the ATV side from my experience it is always a Honda, Yamaha, or Polaris. I have never seen a chinese quad brought back. Of course this is not a scientific study at all, but I have to wonder if anyone keeps such statistics (at Carnegie, or anywhere else).
Do chinese quad operators by nature lead a more subdued riding style? Does this compensate for increased design descrepancies in chinese quads?
I don't know the answer to any of these questions...

Thanks for the replies. I am having a tough time finding used ATV's in my price range. Most people want a ridiculous price ($3000 for a 1986!?!) or they aren't running and I haven't the foggiest idea how to fix them.
Now when I say jump I'm not talking like jumping a bus, I'm talking like riding a neighbors track and jumping 10 or 15 feet maybe 2 feet in the air. Climbing is probably a 30' hill and maybe 70 degrees at the steepest part.
Basically I want to get him off my $7000 KingQuad and give him something a lot less expensive to beat around.

well in relation to my quad, i give it savage abuse altogether and rolled it twice (my fault) and drove it in rivers, conked out a few times but always easily fixed. now i never really did many jumps because i have a farm rather then a track but even when i jump it off a 1 foot drop onto flat concrete the suspension isnt great, with my weight on it there isnt mush give to it, so it can compress to the last and give quite an uncomfortable landing. all i had to do on it mechanically was weld on a tie rod because it ripped off (causing it to roll) but if he isnt on any massive trails then i would give this a go, but hey thats my opinion, especially if its more in your price range.
and a small benefit of this is your son has a great chance to figure out how to fix stuff!!
