Hey all I got this Coolster 110cc which refuses to start with out a jump. I know, Battery, but it does turn over sorta fast with out the jump. Once its hot still needs a jump and sometimes wont start for a bit. its a pain in the butt. Gets great spark when connected to my truck. any ideas?

When your quad is not starting off the quad battery, do you have spark? But the question is a bit more difficult in your case. You cannot just remove the plug and try the normal "grounding the plug threads" method outside the engine because removing the plug will cause the engine to spin faster due to no compression. So leave the plug in and use *another* plug to do the spark test so that engine compression will keep the starter motor cranking speed the same.

If you have no spark with the slightly slower quad cranking speeds, and much better spark when cranking from the truck battery then there may be issues with the trigger pickup coil in the stator.

If the spark is robust in both cases then that would point more toward engine issues such as compression, etc.
