Default Couple of 50cc Kazuma issues

Just a couple queries with my Kazuma 50cc quad that my son uses, I'll explain the symptoms as best I can

In summary there is an inconsistency with its running.

Sometimes it will start on the button and run sweet, the next minute it will take ages to start and run rough. I have checked spark and this seems ok.

When its running rough the revs won't hold, by that I mean you can hold the throttle half open, and without changing the throttle position the revs will just fall and then more than likely cut out. After it does this its a pain to start.

Yesterday I had the throttle fully open and it was popping like a good'un, but usually full throttle is ok.

When it is playing up, it usually bogs down in 1st and struggles to pull away, and sometimes it will cut out as soon as 1st gear is selected.

I am thinking its more likely the carb than anything else, but possibly the CDI as the performance is inconsistent, sometimes bad and sometimes good?

Any help much appreciated.

I will do that first.

I haven't worked on carbs for 15+ years, are these pretty simple to dismantle and clean?

I've not located yet any exploded diagrams for one
